Darling DIY: Coasters

We love, love, love coasters! There are really an unlimited number of possibilities when it comes to designing your own coasters. All you need are cheap coasters or tiles (ours were $1 for 4), some glue, a fun textile (paper, photos, fabric, etc), and less than 10 minutes! One of our favorite lazy sunday read is Persuading Annie by Melissa Nathan (its fabulously entertaining  modern version of Jane Austen's Persuasion...we dare you not to fall in love with Jake Meade! :-)) The book cover is just as adorable as the book itself so we decided to make prints of the book cover for our coasters.

The second one is even easier! We just attached pages from a copy of  (yup, you guessed it) Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility which we got as a used book store for 50 cents.

Just make sure you seal the textile on with a couple layers of glue so they can sustain those spills!

These would be perfect for gifts (you can really personalize them) or if you just want to experiment and make something darling!

~We really recommend picking this one up from your bookstore or library. It's a PERFECT summer beach read!~

Dazzling Destination: Valley Forge Park

This past weekend we took our mom on a fun little outing just 15 minutes away from our house. We went to Valley Forge National Park (http://www.nps.gov/vafo/index.htm); we've been going to this beautiful park for years and it never gets old! We really recommend coming to the park if you live close to Wayne, PA- there is so much to explore as well as lovely areas (like this one) to just relax! We decided to pack a fun picnic, take our bonnets and one of our favorite Jane Austen books (here she is again!) to have a relaxing day out. Though it was over 90 degrees outside, we found a big grove of trees to sit under and it felt so cool!

We really did feel like we were right in the world of Miss Austen's fabulous young ladies! We can't wait to do it again!

~ We don't go anywhere without our trusty picnic basket! We made homemade black bean burgers for lunch (we'll be posting about them soon!)~

Darling DIY: Face and Body Scrub

This super easy 3 ingredient scrub is fabulous! It's made with things you can find in your pantry: oatmeal, brown sugar , and olive oil- about 1/2 cup of each (you may need to add a little more sugar to keep the consistency of a scrub). Mix it together and that's it! Believe us, it makes your skin feel SO smooth. Make some for your girlfriends as gifts or whip up a batch for own pampering spa day!

* You can add in a little bit of vanilla extract (about 1/2 teaspoon) to make it smell even yummier!

Darling DIY: No Sew Pillows

Hello! We took a little break from Darling Disposition as we were getting settled for the summer in NYC! But we've been crafting, eating, and traveling a lot in the last couple of months so there'll be many posts in the next few weeks. First up are these SUPER simple NO SEW (yay! We are still VERY amateur on our sewing machine...) cylindrical pillows. You won't believe what these are made of: a cardboard paper towel roll, a bath towel, and fabric. We rolled the towel around the cardboard to made the form and then covered them in this pretty, vintage-inspired fabric. We were so excited how they turned out; they're super comfortable and match out room at home perfectly! We're thinking of making them for our mom in some different colors. You can make them in any fabric and it only takes about 10 minutes!
