DIY Healthy: Basic Smoothie Base

Here at DD, we absolutely love smoothies! It's a great way to get all those healthy nutrients but in a tasty and refreshing way. Our smoothies have no refined sugar, healthy fat, and a good amount of protein. Once you have your base, you can add in your favorites fruits for a boost of flavor, sweetness and vitamins. These smoothies make a great breakfast or post-workout snack!

Featured ingredient: Greek yogurt!

Greek yogurt is a great way to add protein into our diet! As vegetarians, we struggle with getting enough daily protein, and greek yogurt is a good low-carb alternative. In addition to adding a creamy tartness to your smoothie, it is full of probiotics that improves your digestive health by increasing the good bacteria in your stomach. It also helps weight loss, blood pressure control, and bone health. Wow!

Ingredients
Almond milk, unsweetened vanilla (2 cups)
Non-fat plain greek yogurt (3/4 cup)
Avocado (1)
Chia seeds (2 Tbsp)
Vanilla extract (1 tsp)
Handful of ice
1 cup of your favorite fruit: This smoothie has raspberries (3/4 cup) and mango (1/4 cup)

Steps:
Mix everything together in your blender and enjoy!

Let us know what you think, and what fruit combinations are your favorite!
