DIY Halloween: Bloody Mason Jar Votives

We're adding some good ol' fashioned blood to Day 3 of  Halloween week! These mason jar candles have just the right amount of cringe-worthiness for you and your guests. The bright red of the paint makes the blood seem so fresh that you can't help but think that the person (or thing!) who caused the mess is still close by. We're not going to lie, we got a a little scared while making these (but the episode of Criminal Minds that was on during our DIY-session didn't help much).

*If you're having little kids over, make sure they're not too scared! As you can see, they're a little graphic.

Supplies:

Mason jars

Gauze

Red acrylic paint

Paint brushes

Flame-less votive candles

Tape

Steps:

1. Roll out the gauze

2. Go to town with your red paint! The messier the better; drag your brush along the gauze to get a cool effect.

3. Let the paint dry (Stay glued to your episode of Criminal Minds!).

4. Wrap the gauze around the mason jar and tuck the end in. Secure with a small piece of tape on the edge.

5. Put in your flame-less candle. All done!
